Sometimes with certain brands of almond butter, they’re a little “drier” and the cookies won’t flatten as much. Or if the almond butter is super cold from the fridge they won’t spread as easily. They should taste just as delicious! You can always try flattening them next time with a fork like you would with traditional peanut butter cookies. Hope you loved them!
If you’ve been with me a long time, you know that Grams can not get enough of this drupe! Yep, I had to say drupe. One day, I might even achieve my lifelong dream of saying “drupe” out loud. Stay tuned. Anyway, I’ve dedicated these chocolate coconut bars, this paleo almond joy, friggin’ coconut chocolate chip ICE CREAM, and chocolate coconut truffles (!) to her. But by far, one of her very favorites was my paleo vegan coconut macaroons.
DIY roasted nuts are easier than you’d think—all you need is a bag of mixed nuts, an egg white, and go-to spices: sea salt, pepper, rosemary, sage, garlic powder, and paprika. Coat the nuts in the egg white in one bowl, and mix all the spices in another. Pour the spice mix over the nuts, transfer to a baking sheet lined with foil or parchment paper, and roast for 16 minutes.
Hi! This might seem like an odd question, but do you think I could bake / cook these on an electric griddle? 5 mins, then a flip and 5 mins more? I am thinking to try this at preschool and want a recipe that will cater to all children, with respect to food allergies / sensitivities or parents nutritional wishes. We don’t have an oven, just the electric griddle pan. Thoughts?

The paleo or primal lifestyle also promotes healthier living. Better sleeping habits. Stress reduction. Functional fitness and movement. Adequate sun exposure. Spending more time outdoors. Avoiding environmental toxins and so on. Above all, paleo is not a set of strict rules, it’s more of a framework that you can adapt based on your own goals, health, gender, age, location and current lifestyle. It’s a very holistic approach to wellbeing. Read more about my practical approach to paleo here.

Growing research continues to suggest that eating a diet consisting of mostly whole foods is associated with more weight loss (2,3,4). Not to mention that highly processed foods tend to be higher in added sugar, sodium and trans fats, which research suggests may play a role in increased inflammation and actually counteract your weight loss efforts (5).
More than a little into running and paleo recipes (yoga now too!) but I'm not here to rain on your grains (or anything else) so come along for the ride! I do a little too much of everything (except cleaning), and I enjoy laughing at myself. As long as I'm the one making the jokes, that is. Just kidding. So bring me your angst, your appetite and your frying pan and climb aboard!
Ive made a cople of your desserts now and have been SO impressed!!!!! Thank you for these great recipes!! My husband eats Paleo so I wanted to test these out for him today. Between my parents and my 4 yr old son, they ate almost the whole batch!! My dad even loved them and he has been known to eat 6 crispy kremes in one sitting without thinking twice! 😉 I used our blendtec blender to grind some raw almonds into flour (hadn’t tried that before) and with that the cookies came out delicious!! Thank you for sharing!
With grains excluded from the Paleo diet, nuts and seeds are popular replacements in Paleo versions of bread, cereals, pies, cakes and other baked goods. They form the basis of many dairy-free milks, flours and nut butters. They’re also incredibly popular and sustaining snacks and salad toppings. While nuts open up a range of previously non-Paleo offerings, they’re nevertheless high in calories and undesirable phytic acid. Consume them mindfully.
Hi Anne- thank you for trying them! Coconut sugar in very low glycemic so it’s much better for blood sugar than traditional sugar (of course), but even honey or maple syrup. I do understand that some people have to have sugar free though. I’m not familiar with stevia and I don’t think it converts 1:1. I have had good luck with Swerve sweetener which does evenly convert in recipes and I would suggest she tried that. It’s found in the baking aisle and of course on Amazon. Hope that helps!

Traditionally I’m not a huge fan of using several different gluten free flours in one recipes. I want the ingredients to be both accessible and have many different uses. So far, almond and coconut flour have become my go-tos (especially when it comes to paleo baking). If you find yourself looking for more recipes like these cookies, feel free to check out my paleo and grain free recipe categories!
Take 30 days and give it a shot – cut out the grains and dairy, start eating more vegetables and fruits, eat more humanely raised and non-grain fed meat, cut out the liquid calories and sugar, and see how you feel after the month is up. If you’re analytical and want numbers to use in your final verdict, get your blood work done at the beginning and end of the month.
Fruit snacks and roll-ups (i.e. fruit leather), often packed as additions to a child’s lunch box or provided as an afternoon snack, can be anything but a fruit-based snack.  Often packed with simple sugars and void of dietary fiber, fruit snacks may not seem like a healthy snack to incorporate as part of a Paleo diet, but it is easy to cut out excess sugar when you make your own fruit snacks or roll-ups from scratch.  These “real” and natural fruit-based goodies make a delicious sweet snack when you are craving sugar.  Great to have on hand for both yourself and children, take a peek at these tasty recipes that may soon become a staple in your Paleo pantry:
Don’t settle for buying Fruit Roll-Ups when you can make your own version at home, without all of the chemicals and preservatives. These leathery lookalikes deliver all the flavor you could ask from a fruit snack, because they’re really made from fruit. Apples and strawberries to be exact, and there’s even a grapefruit added for good measure. The recipe ends up making 10 strips, which should be enough to get you through the week. It’s a bit of a novelty, and a delicious way to get some vitamins and nutrients into your body.

It doesn’t matter if you’re Paleo or not — you’re going to want to make these nachos! You’ll start with homemade sweet potato chips, then load ’em up with shredded chicken, pico de gallo and chilies. But the star of this dish is the avocado sauce. It’s your cheese stand-in but trust me, you’re going to want to eat it all the time. A mix of avocado, mayo, lime juice, jalapeño, garlic and cilantro, this will be your new favorite sauce. Serve these on game day, movie night or anytime, really!
Ugh, I tried this recipe, but it was not good. I’d rate it a one star, just a bit above cardboard. Granted, I did not use Honeyville or nuts.com brand of almond flours suggested, but I did use a premium brand (Blue Diamond finely sifted flour) and even weighed out the ingredients to be certain I followed the recipe precisely. I don’t need paleo, but do need gluten-free. I have other cookie recipes that are great, and if a recipe is not great, I don’t want to waste my time or money on it. Sadly, I will not be making this again.
All types of berries are usually named as the go-to fruit of the paleo diet. With an extremely high antioxidant content, they contain fewer carbohydrates than other types of fruit meaning that they can be enjoyed without creating dramatic shifts in blood sugar levels which trigger hunger and cravings. The health benefits provided by berries differ based on which type you choose but range from improving your heart health to reducing inflammation and detoxifying. They also generally contain high levels of vitamin C to improve immune function.
